. . . . . . . Summer Eating . . . . . . .

Summer is a great time for experimenting with food. Traditionally, this season is one that allows you to eat with your hands and drip a little more than you usually would. Summer eating is all about light, simple, smokey, and flavorful. With the dog days approaching quickly, there is no time to waste. Put away your Dutch ovens and dust off you grilling utensils. A new menu awaits and your family and friends expect perfection. So, how will you kick up meal time this summer?

Start with a sweet and crunchy family favorite- - corn. If you are lucky enough to live by a corn field, go pick your own. This can be a great family activity or a rare chance to get in touch with the growers that make this summer staple fresh and sweet. One of my favorite ways to have cobbed corn is to grill it. Place the whole cobs (unpeeled, husks and all) on the grate and turn frequently to prevent burning.  Once cooled, peel and slather with a bit of herbed butter, jalapeno honey, or go old school and simply sprinkle with a bit of salt.

Take burgers to the next level by using premium cuts of beef with smokey fresh chorizo. The paprika adds a tang and depth of flavor that will turn your weekend barbecue into a burger bash. Top with caramelized onions, whole grain mustard, homemade pickles, or any combination of your favorite ‘fixins’. Nothing says summer like a juicy homemade burger. Think ‘outside the bun’ and take it into a different and more flavorful direction.

And for dessert, you can either be bad, or be terrible. Grilled firm fruit is an absolute wonder when it’s heated on the grill. A quick brush of melted butter and a sprinkle of brown sugar will pamper your taste buds without feeling guilty.  But for the naughty dessert lovers, there’s only one way to go…. S’mores! Instead of the traditional grahams, start with a slice of moist Kahlua cake, top with a dollop of Flavor Fusion Raspberry Cocoa Dessert Sauce, and crown with a roasted giant marshmallow. Does it get any better than this? I think not.

Think about these food ideas and how you like to entertain during the summer months.

Get inspired.

Get out of the culinary rut.

Get outside.

Get messy….it’s ok, it’s summer!

Happy Eating!

An Overwhelming Response...

basilch

At first glance, a Basil Chardonnay Jelly may give you pause. This certainly isn't what many people expect from a jelly, not even a savory one. But then, something magical happens-- you taste it and decide instantly that you need this in your life.

Foodie friends, these are not our words, they are the sentiments of many of our customers that have fallen in love with an unexpected condiment, the unsung hero of The Flavor Fusion collection. Oftentimes, when we bring our product line to farmer's markets and other events, people will first venture into the more mainstream and familiar flavors. As they make their way down the line of serving dishes, they come to the pale jelly and wonder if they should take the plunge or no. 9 times out of 10, they surprise themselves and revel in what they almost missed out on.

What makes this particular jelly so alluring is it soft Chardonnay flavor and its surprisingly crisp basil companion. The best part of our wine based jellies is how versatile they are! Although great out of the jar with an assortment of smoked meats and cheeses, these wine jellies also do double duty as finishing sauces for grilled meats, poultry, and even fish. How many jellies can do that?

Stay tuned to our Shop updates and plan on visiting us. For those who still haven't tasted our many sweet and savory flavors, you are certainly missing out. For our established clientele who inspired this post, new batches of our Basil Chardonnay Jelly are in the works and will be ready by the weekend.

Happy Eating!
